PLIA is a ministry that sends Dordt College students on mission over Spring Break in March. Each year Dordt sends students to different sites across the United States to lift high the name of Jesus through word and deed. This initiative is planned, led, and executed solely by students. Each team is made up of 8-10 students from different grades, majors, and backgrounds. On site, groups work alongside ministries and organizations to support, encourage, and learn. Mission work often includes general maintenance, assisting in building homes, praying for the city, evangelism, lawn care, homeless ministry, and tutoring children.
Both students and ministries benefit from the opportunities PLIA provides. Ministries are encouraged and given a respite as students shoulder much of the work for a week. Also, the community gets to see young, committed Christians living out their love for Jesus. Students gain new cultural experiences, learn new skills, receive insight into how ministry and non-profits are run, and more than anything get to pour themselves out as Jesus poured Himself out for us.
In order to sustain this student-led ministry, we need your help! Yes, we desire your prayers. We need them! We also are in need of financial support. Over 160 students served in 16 locations around the US this year. In answer to this overwhelming response, we are asking for additional support to meet our expenses. Please give and partner with us to sustain this ministry and its impact. To end, although the trip has passed, our mission has not. The impact is still rippling outward in the cities we went and on Dordt’s campus since we have returned. Please be a part of this ministry!
